09.04.14: CO-OPTION OPPORTUNITY. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a casual vacancy has occurred in the Office of Councillor for the Parish of Pucklechurch due to the resignation of a Councillor. Closing date for applications is 2nd May 2014. Full notice here...

09.04.14: Grants Available for to all kinds of voluntary and community groups. South Gloucestershire Council is able to give grants to help with your projects. You could receive up to £3,000 (or more depending on the nature of your project). Click here for information and application forms. Applications close 28th April.

28.03.14: The new (official) timetable for the X49 service to be operated by First Bus is now available.  Click here for a PDF. It does include later buses and a Sunday service.

25.03.14: Tour of Shortwood and Pucklechurch Mines & Brickworks. This is a great opportunity to see part of our local heritage. The tour is approx. 4 to 5 hours long and will start from Parkfield Rank (at the end near the play area) at 10.00am on Saturday, 5th April. 24.03.14: Tower Playgroup have updated their page with current hours and contact details.

12.03.14: Bluebird Care have vacancies at their Chipping Sodbury branch.  They provide care and support to the elderly, people with physical disabilities and adults with learning disabilities across the whole of South Gloucestershire. 10.03.14: Date for your diary - Saturday, 5th April - Village Litter Pick. Steve Reade (District Councillor, Boyde Valley) will lead a Litter Pick starting at the Fleur at 10.00am going out through the village, up Abson Road, round the top of Oaktree Av, cutting through to St Aldams and back to the Fleur. Everyone is welcome. Feel free to email Steve at Stephen.Reade@southglos.gov.uk to let him know you are coming but it's not necessary - just turn up.

04.03.14: Superfast Broadband is now operational. The Abson exchange and cabinets are now operational and most properties will be able to upgrade. To do so you need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP). However, a small number of properties may not be able to upgrade as BT have not converted all cabinets (more details here http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/faq/).

02.03.14: Details of the Pucklechurch Scarecrow Trail and Competition which will be held on Sunday, 4th and Monday, 5th May have been published here.  This year's theme is Movie and Film Characters.

27.02.14: X49 bus service details. From April 13th the 689 will be replaced by a new service the X49. We have obtained a an unofficial copy of the X49 timetable. Until we can verify the source please treat it as provisional. However, it does contain potentially good news with later busses and the first Sunday service in many a year.  Full 'provisional' timetable details here... 25.02.14: VACANCY FOR A COUNCILLOR - NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a casual vacancy has occurred in the office of Councillor for Pucklechurch Parish Council.

An election will be held to fill the vacancy if notice of a request for such an election is given to the Returning Officer, South Gloucestershire Council, Council Offices, Castle Street, Thornbury, Bristol, BS35 1HF by ten Local Government electors for the said electoral area no later than 12 March 2014.

If no request for an election is given, the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option.

24.02.14: Pucklechurch Parish Council Grant Scheme

Funds are available to be awarded as grants to groups that are based within Pucklechurch.  At this time there are two specific categories, young people groups and other groups.

The deadline for applications is 13th March 2014.

24.02.14: First will operate a new service which will replace the 689 from April 13th. There is now further information which can be found here...

24.02.14 Superfast Broadband will soon be available in Pucklechurch. BT openreach (who install the fibre cable infrastructure) are currently estimating that it will be available in March (next month).  In order to get connected you need to contact the company that provides your internet. However, they may not be able to take orders until the Abson exchange goes live.

17.02.14: The Social Club at the Village Hall has updated its page with details of the club and calendar of events for 2014 here...

17.02.14: The Church is running an Alpha Course every Tuesday evening until 8th April in the Fleur de Lis Pub, starting at 7.30pm and finishing at about 9pm each time. The course covers many of the important questions in life and about Christianity. More details here...

07.02.14: Avon and Somerset police have updated their website.  Unfortunately information about out local area is not yet available. Details of our local beat team may be found here...

07.02.14: 689 Bus Service. In addition to the information below I have been informed by Martin Gosney who was at the SGC Council meeting on the 3rd that a First employee also stated that the X49:

1. Morning service (which at present continues via Fishponds Road, Stapleton Road, Trinity Road, West Street, The Inner Ring Road and Bond Street) will operate as ALL other journeys, that is via Muller Road and the M32.
 
2. Will terminate and commence from the Bristol Bus Station.

03.02.14: Newsletter Update. Unfortunately the hosting service (1&1) have started charging for the Newsletter service (appprox £120/yr).  Until I resolve this or find a new provider I am unable to send out the newsletter.

03.02.14: 689 Bus Service: South Gloucestershire Council have informed the Parish Council that First Bus have registered a service (X49) to operate a commercial service to replace the 689 from week commencing 13th April 2014. The route and times would remain broadly the same as it is now however there would also be additional later journeys in the evening. This is all the information about the new service that has been provided as of the date of writing.
