The categories:
Pucklechurch Village Life – Photos of buildings, people, scenery and events that show where and how we live
Open – Any other subject, including travel, portraits, nature, pets, abstracts, and architecture
The age groups:
17 and under – entry is free
18 and over – £1 per entry
Who may enter?
Amateur photographers only
Residents of Pucklechurch, Shortwood, Abson, Westerleigh, Syston, Hinton, Doynton, and Dyrham or any student attending Pucklechurch Primary School (regardless of where they live)
Members of the Revel Committee are eligible because the judges will be neutral third parties
What do I submit?
Entrants can submit a maximum of two photos per category.
All entries must be submitted as small prints (no larger than 4x6" or 5x5") and may be colour or black and white. Do not mount your print on card or paper.
Photographs may be printed from film or digital sources and may be cropped from the original image. Images may be digitally altered for special effects, but please include "digitally manipulated" on the back of the print.
Photographs may be old or recent, but they must be the entrant's own work.
Include the following on the back of the print: category, age group, title (if any), your name, address, phone number and/or email address. To protect the print, use a soft felt-tip pen or write the information on a large label and stick the label to the back of the print.
If you would like your print(s) returned to you, please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Make sure the envelope is large enough and includes enough postage.
If you are entering in the 18 and over category, please include £1.00 per entry in cash or a cheque payable to Pucklechurch Revel.
When and where do I submit my photos?
Entries must be received by 21st September 2008.
Place your photo in a sealed envelope.
Drop off or post to: Revel Photo Competition, 49 Homefield Road, Pucklechurch, BS16 9QA
What happens then?
Judges will be recruited from outside the village and will be neutral third parties who have significant experience in photography. They will consider visual impact, composition, and image quality (sharp focus, true colour, quality of print, etc.) in selecting the winners. The judges' decisions will be final.
Winners may be asked to submit digital images or negatives that can be scanned so the winning images can be displayed on the Pucklechurch Community Website, enlarged for display at the Revel Photography Exhibition, and/or printed as postcards.
Images must be the entrant's own work. Photographers retain their own copyright on the images. However, by submitting an image to this competition, entrants expressly grant the Revel Committee the right to use the image free of charge for display at the exhibition, on Revel Day, for publishing on the Pucklechurch Community Website, and for postcards sold locally.
All suitable entries will be displayed at an exhibition in the Village Hall on Sunday 11th October 2009.
What are the prizes?
Prizes will include £20 cash for the top prize in each category and certificates for all winners.
The winning entries will be displayed on Pucklechurch Community Website, providing a further chance to show off your work.
