St Aldam’s Drive Play Area
Following the successful gathering of information on Revel Day regarding people's attitudes to a showcase play area at St Aldam's Drive, further information was sought from Pucklechurch C of E School. The results were fed back to the Parish Council. Tina Rainy, the South Gloucestershire Council officer overseeing the project, wrote "My colleague Chris (the Children's Participation Officer) has sent me through the results of her work at Pucklechurch Primary School. It is excellent information and reflects the general feedback we got from young people at the Revel." Over 150 young people, aged between 7 and 11, from Pucklechurch Primary School took part in the phase 1 consultation. The children were asked whether they used the open space off St Aldam's Drive now; 85% said they did not. When asked if they would use it if it became a "play garden", 80% said yes. This emphasises the strong support forthe project, to which the Parish Council gives its wholehearted backing. However, we are also mindful of the reservations of some of the neighbours, and there will be more consultation on the proposal in the near future. Please give any comments on the proposal to the Clerk to the Parish Council by telephone on 937 2398 or email parish.council@pucklechurch.org.

Guarding Your Garden
Hello to all the readers of the Pucklechurch News.
As a recent convert to the pleasures of gardening and dipping my toe into the world of smallholding, I thought I would offer some advice concerning the safety of your stock and gardening equipment. My attention was drawn recently to an article on the BBC News where 50+ pigs had been stolen from a field in the Home Counties and other instances where small amounts of stock and produce were being stolen from allotments and gardens. The inference was that the credit crunch is encouraging a certain sector of society to help themselves to other people's property. What can we do to prevent this? If you have livestock, you should by law have a registration document, passport, flock number or other ID for every animal. Please make sure you know where it is, as a) you can't move the animal without it, and b) if it does get stolen, I can circulate the information to the various authorities. If you have garden machinery or equipment that you use on the land, is it marked with your post code? Do you have the engine/serial number written or recorded anywhere? Have you got a photograph of it in case it goes missing? If the answer is no, then please get in touch. We can mark your equipment, record it and also take digital photos. We also offer advice in the safekeeping of your property and ways to prevent it from being stolen. I would also say that if you spot any suspicious activity or persons around places where you have livestock or produce growing, please report it. By working together we can ensure that what's yours stays that way and you enjoy the fruits of your labours.

Is there someone you'd like us to investigate?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, we'd like to speak to you. Even if it happened a few years ago, we're interested.
