September 2007

Dear Editor,

The green at Oaktree Avenue is being used for:

  • Cycling. Grass near the lane has been dug up, leaving mounds of earth and holes for children to ride bicycles up and down. That's fine for children but dangerous for anyone walking (with or without a dog).
  • Camping ground. When the tents are removed, the site is left littered with rubbish (empty beer cans, crisp packets and other various items), and a broken tent has been left on the green. Whilst no one wants to be a killjoy, surely the green should be left in the condition it was found. This is a duty children and parents should perform.
  • It is wonderful to see the site being used by children, and perhaps one day proper facilities can be made available on the green.

    Dear Editor,

I am a friend of a local resident called James Poole, who, at 17 years old, is a very talented young man. Realising that James had potential but a lack of confidence, I have been helping him to obtain his dream of becoming a model.  We have had a portfolio done and have been working really hard to get James a modelling contract with an agent or by any other means possible. I encouraged James to enter a competition with Specsavers for the title of ‘Specsavers Model of the Year 2007’.  The hard work has paid off, as James WON the regional final and is now one step closer to realising his dream. He'll be in the Celebrity Grand Final in London on 9th October, where the first prize is a one-year modelling contract with the London modelling agency M.O.T.  I would like to congratulate James on his hard work and determination and wish him well for the final. I encourage any Pucklechurch residents who know James to give him encouragement and support. After all, we could have a model in our midst. Now that would put Pucklechurch on the map!
