Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

Having walked around the village following the Scarecrow Trail, I am writing to congratulate Rachel Goodchild and her helpers for such a wonderful idea and well-organised event.

I don’t believe for one moment the organisers (and the villagers) believed they would get such a response. Fifty-one scarecrows appeared in all areas of the village, and the numbers following the trail on both Sunday and Monday were tremendous despite some poor weather. A bonus was the fact that people were talking to each other on their way around and found roads they had never ventured into before, as well as visiting our beautiful church. All of this was in a week when the BBC was highlighting the fact that communities no longer had a sense of belonging and where neighbours did not know each other!

I hope that this will become an annual event and that even more scarecrows appear in the future.

Well done to all who took part!

Lyn Smith
