Pucklechurch Cricket Club

The forthcoming cricket season is now upon us and training for the senior club has already started. PCC are interested in attracting both youth and senior players to the club.

Senior nets have commenced and are being held at King Edmund Community School in their brand new facilities with Gloucester CCC coach Damian Forder.

Youth training will be held on the Rec Sunday mornings, beginning 25th March, from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon. Youth Cricket is currently played at the ages of 8-17 under the Bristol Youth Cricket League and the guidance of the Child Protection Act. Age groups are currently U11s, U13s, U15s and U17s, starting at 8 years of age.

Known amongst the parents as the cheapest activity for the kids to become involved in within the village, this year we are in discussions with the Primary School to further develop cricket for our younger children. We will be holding Kwik Cricket coaching and games for children between the ages of 6-8 years old, although we do not exclude any child within reason. Kwik Cricket is played using plastic bats and balls, with kids moving on to playing the hard ball game from 8 years upwards, if appropriate.  Playing sessions will be held on Thursday evenings from 6.00 to 7.30pm (commencement date to be confirmed).

PCC is an extremely social club, the emphasis being on family involvement and village activities.  We hold a number of social events throughout the summer months including BBQs, discos and horse race night to which non-members are welcome. Our events take place at the Pucklechurch Community Association Social Club, and many are held on the terrace which overlooks the cricket square -- a perfect spot to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon or early evening. Our fixtures and social events can be found on the Pucklechurch Community Website.

If you or your child are interested in joining the Club please contact Vicky or Dean Freestone on 937 3227 or 07919 166049 or Mike Wiltshire on 07748 154383.
