Ill health has put two members of the Pucklechurch Community Association Executive Committee out of action for several months, and we are also in dire need of a secretary who can take minutes and type the occasional letter. Can you help? The Executive Committee are responsible for keeping the Village Hall and its equipment in good and safe condition, and without a viable committee, the future of our Community Centre may be threatened. If you have ideas that can contribute to maintaining this valuable resource or can spare a few hours a month to serve on the Executive Committee, please contact PCA Chairman Les Bence on 937-3140.

All villagers are invited to the PCA's AGM on the 9th May in the meeting room of the Village Hall starting at 8pm.

The PCA chairman and committee extend their best wishes to both Mary Whittock and Roger Payne for a speedy recovery following their stays in hospital.

Gardeners' Club

The Pucklechurch Gardeners' Club had an excellent finger buffet and quiz in December (seems a long time ago), and we started the new year off with a talk by Roger Turner, entitled ‘Improve the look of your garden’. On March 1st, Mr M. Leech will be telling us all about rock gardens and alpines.

This is our 30th anniversary year, and we are planning to have a celebration in the summer. Members will be advised as soon as details are known.

To find out more about the Pucklechurch Gardeners' Club, come along to the Village Hall at 7.45pm on the first Wednesday of the month and find out more.

Join 'Health Walk' on April 3rd

Active for Life smJoin ‘Walking to Health’ on a 3-mile rural walk round Pucklechurch on Monday, 3rd April 2006.  We will be meeting from 1.30 onwards at Pucklechurch Village Hall for a 2pm start. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be on offer after the walk.

'Walking to Health' is a nationwide scheme to encourage people to get out and about in their local communities and get fitter in the process. The project in the Yate, Sodbury and Dodington area began in January this year and has so far helped over 80 people kick-start their New Year fitness resolutions!  Our walks are friendly, fun and can be done at your own pace. We have a committed group of walk leaders to help you get around on the day.

The Pucklechurch walk will take in part of the Avon Cycleway and the hamlet of Parkfield and will afford lovely views to the west. It is mostly on good surfaces, but does include one climb and a stile.

You can just turn up on the day, but if you would like any further information about this and other Walking Healthwalks in our Spring Walks Programme, please do not hesitate to contact Christine Farr on 01454 863899 or e-mail at Christine.Farr@southglos.gov.uk

Note from the editors:

There are regular Health Walks on Wednesdays and some Saturdays at 2.00pm in the Kingswood/Mangotsfield area and on Fridays at 10.30am in the Chipping Sodbury/Yate area. Contact the Walking to Health Team on 01454 863899 for more information.
